We pull fee schedules directly from each provider's website and cross-reference with customer complaints on BBB and CFPB. If a company doesn't publish their markup, we flag it.
When you click through to a provider and complete a rollover, we may earn a commission. This never affects the price you pay. We rank by fees, not by what pays us most.
Provider fees and minimums change. We update this comparison table every quarter and note the date of the last review so you know exactly when the data was verified.
$0–$500 one-time. Covers account opening, paperwork, and IRA transfer processing. Goldco charges $100. Augusta can waive it. AHG charges $50.
$100–$400/year. Paid to the custodian (Equity Trust, Delaware Depository, Brinks) and the dealer's own admin layer. This recurs every year, forever.
3–15% above spot price. This is the dealer's margin. It's where most of the cost hides. A 5% markup on $50K = $2,500 in the first year alone.
When you eventually sell, the provider buys back at spot minus their spread. Some buy back at the same price you paid. Others deduct 5–10%. Read the buyback terms BEFORE you buy.
